Chapter 3

Forensic Lab - CID

“Tarika, tumse ek baat puchni thi…” Abhijeet asked her. “Bolo Abhijeet.” she said. “Tarika, kya tum yeh bata sakti ho ki kaisi type ki instruments aur chemicals, medicines, etc use kiye jaate hai jab yeh operations hote hai?”

“Actually we can, agar jaha se kata hua ho, uspe dhyan diya jaye aur uss jaga ki acchi tarha se jaanch partach ho toh humain samaj aa sakta hai whether someone professional or crude has operated on the child.” Tarika said.

“Hmm, Abhijeet, today I shall go and check out with Sakshi, she said she needed information regarding the hotspots of child trafficking.” Daya said and left the room.

At a random location

“Sakshi, tu theek soch rahi hai na? Agar un logo ko zara sa bhi bhanak lag gaya…” Kavin started to get slapped by Sakshi on his arm.

“If you’re done with your worrying and emotional dialogue can I get through and start my tiny sting operations?” Sakshi smiled while Kavin groaned. “I can’t lose you too…”

Sakshi stretched her tainted maroon lips and shook her head “Focus on work Kav, nothing else.” She murmured as she puffed her hair and smacked her lips.

Kavin passed a quick hug and walked out of her apartment while Sakshi tightened her corset and curled her hair. A shirl on her phone surprised her and what surprised her further was the name of the caller.

“Arjun?” she asked as her phone rested between her shoulder and ear “Are you ready?” he asked.

“I am.”

“If there’s any issue or anything, just remember to click or send any sort of signal to me okay? And yeah, if you feel it’s uncomfortable or scared then remember I am there.” Arjun rattled off further instructions as Sakshi closed her eyes, a strange warmth seeping up her heart.

Arjun knew that Sakshi knew everything well before, but he found it to be imperative to call and tell her what to do. There’s no hope as long as Miss. Trouble is concerned!

“Thank you.” Sakshi whispered and Arjun stilled from his ramble “Thank you?”

“Yeah, for your concern for me. Thank you for the take care and I’m concerned and tensed for you.” Sakshi chuckled as Arjun’s puzzled voice came through.

“I never said those.” Arjun said and tapped at the edge of his chair while Sakshi said in a hushed voice “You meant all those.”

“Bye.” Arjun said and sighed when Sakshi too cut the call.

Somethings were strange to understand.

“Liza meri maa! Bhagwan ke liye chor de mujhe! It’s just a..a… achoo!” Shree sneezed as Liza shook her head and dug into her bag and took out a bunch of medicines.

“Shut up Shree! Here, take this aspirin and… Jesus! You’re running with a viral fever!” Liza rubbed his arm with an antiseptic while Shree squirmed under Liza’s hold.

“This is a quick shot to get down on your fever! Now shut up and stay still.” Liza held his arm with a vice grip while she heard Shree murmur something.

“Hey Maa Durga amake bachao! Ami Liza’r haathe morte chaina!” (Oh Goddess please save me! I don’t want to die at Liza’s hands!)

“Done!” Liza stuck her tongue out and relaxed on a chair while Shree half smiled “Tujhe badi chinta hai meri!”

“Shut up! That Kavin is very cute!” Liza smacked her glossed lips, completely oblivious to the sudden anger in Shree.

“Yeah right! I..aa… achoo!” Shree sneezed while Kavin entered, unaware of the daggers being shot at his direction.

“Yeh tum kya kar rahe ho Shree?” Daya asked as Shree was strangling Kavin.

“Iss kutte kamine ko maar raha hoon! Yeh mere Basanti pe line maar rahi hai!” Shree strangled Kavin harder while Kavin was swinging his legs.

“Shut up! Yeh ladki ulta mujhpe line maarti rehti hai!” Kavin screamed.

“Utho!” Daya shook his shoulders.

“Shreekant?” Daya shook his shoulders while Shree got up. “Huh? Sorry, do tell me.”

“Sakshi has reported that she has gone to the den and shall send weekly reports to Kavin. Shreekant, kya woh farmhouse ko secure kiya hai?” Daya asked as Shree scrolled through his iPad.

“Hmm… yes Sir. Everything’s done as required, now just as Sakshi keeps on giving us reports and the raids keep on happening, the kids can easily stay here. They shall be safe and secured.” Shree passed on the necessary informations to Daya and Kavin who nodded and left just as soon as they came.

“Shree, have you sent Ayesha’s information to Sakshi? She knows a great deal about these things.” Liza asked as she cracked open a Cola for herself.

“Yeah, basically I have briefed Sakshi with everything and decorated her with all my gadgets. She’s as secure as the President of America.” Shree smiled while Liza nudged his arm and laughed.

Ghatkopar - undisclosed location

“Yeh lo, bilkul first class maal hai. Kadak aur choti bhi. Bas kuch pandra saal ki.” A pimp held out a frail girl in his arms as a client assessed her.

“I want this girl.” An overly dressed woman walked into the shop, a cigar in her hand and an iPhone 6 plus in the other.

“Assi laakh (80 lakhs) baad main milenga.” She spat out at the phone and looked at the pimp.

“Adaab, aaj tak toh sirf ladke aate the, ladkia thodi kam aati hai, boliye hum aapke kaam kaise aaye?” The pimp smiled and reeked of alcohol while the woman smacked her lips and held out cash.

“Business karna hai.” The woman pouted her garish red lips while the other client swirled his hand through her waist “Tu kitne pe bikegi?”

To get a resounding slap on his cheek “Teri!”

“Oh shut up! Desi maal ka mang Dubai aur Singapore tak hai. Profit is around three crores - woh bhi sirf comission. Samjhe ya samjhaaun?” The woman settled herself on the sofa, perfectly aware of the men’s eyes on her pert round bottom which strained against her skirt.

She knew that none would touch her, now, as she spoke business. She refrained from the glasses served to her and smiled as they ushered the other men away. A hefty man sat in front of her and smirked as she delivered a crore in cash.

Sakshi Anand smiled deeper as she established her first connection into the roots of hell. She made a silent vow that everyone would wish that they never met her.

“Sir, Ghatkoper - basti fourteen.” Purvi commented as Kavin’s phone beeped with a message from Sakshi. A twinge of pain felt when she realised that the duo were too close for probable comfort.

Brushing other thoughts away she called up Shreya who reported to Daya about a raid location available at the given location.

Soon enough Daya, Freddy, Purvi and Kavin, along with a few backup headed towards the location.

The silent backup from ETF procured the results as a complete success.

At the lab,

“Tarika, tumne bulaya? That’s a first!” Abhijeet smiled as Tarika rolled her eyes and shushed him. “Sir! Now it’s not the time for all this. I just realised a strange thing about Jhumpi’s body - I wasn’t sure and asked Liza too to recheck what I thought…” Tarike muttered and brushed through the reports.

Just on cue her phone rang.

“Tarika, I have checked it myself. There’s no solid proof stating what we suspect because things seemed to be done simultaneously but I have found out one mistake in their operation.” Liza spoke through the speaker while Tarika hummed in response.

“See the hand was sliced out perfectly and on deeper inspection even an organ was removed… what was shocking is that a bit of the organ tissue remains within the body.” Liza spoke through the phone while Tarika’s eyes rounded.

“Are you sure they are organ tissues?” Tarika stated, oblivious of Pradyuman having walked into the lab.

“I am hundred percent sure Tarika! The organ was removed in a haste hence it was slightly damaged.” Liza’s voice resounded confusion as Tarika gasped.

“A harmed organ would be of no use for an organ smuggler! In fact the organs are supposed to be removed with precaution!” Tarika stated.

“Abhijeet! Kahi iska matlab yeh toh nahi ki…” Pradyuman spoke out loud as the situation dawned on him.

“That someone wants us to think that she was just killed for organ racket.” Abhijeet held his head.

“Sir… could this thing be a set up?” Liza voiced out the impending question in everyone’s mind.

Eight weeks.

Eight weeks since ETF and CID had stumbled upon the fact that Jhumpi had been a part of a larger conspiracy.

Eight weeks since they had raided several camps on the basis of Sakshi’s inputs and both teams previous references.

But it had been four weeks since no connection with Sakshi.

Arjun stubbed his pen into his notepad and groaned as a throbbing ache in his head robbed him off his peace, again.

His only tension being that why wasn’t she being able to contact anyone? Had she dug too deep into the matter?

“Haan Sir?” Arjun spoke into his phone as Pradyuman called up.

“Tumhe kya lagta hai Arjun. Yeh logo ke kya cheez ho sakta hai jo hume pata nahi chal raha hai.”

“Sir, mujhe lagta hai ki hume koi mislead karna chah raha ho from our main point of focus. Hum log human trafficking pe focus kar rahe the jab Jhumpi was thrown to us as a shock. I have a deep sinking feeling that Jhumpi was killed because she noticed something she wasn’t supposed to.” Arjun spoke.

“Arjun, tum aur tumhare team Jhumpi ke poore basti ko raid maaro. Mujhe aisa lagta hai ki basti main kuch to garbar hai. Kyunki garbar Jhumpi ki maut nahi, uski jagah hai.” Pradyuman advised as Arjun nodded.

Arjun walked into the conference room and called on the other members. “Pradyuman sir briefed me about everything we are going to discuss. Plan batao Rawte.” Rathore spoke as the other members switched glances amidst their two bosses.

“Explain what Pradyuman sir told us, tab tak I need a cup of tea. Sak… Ayesha please call in for a chai.” Arjun bit his inner cheek as his colleague gave a teasing look to him and nodded.

After a few minutes of intense discussion with his team Ayesha suddenly stood up and smiled like a loony toon.

“Ash… Ayesha? What’s wrong?” Rathore asked as Ayesha chuckled “What if I state that I have a full proof plan and permission to get the chawl raided tomorrow?” Rathore raised an eyebrow while Ayesha smirked.

After sparing a two second eyelock Arjun cleared his throat “Cut off the drama and batao.”

“You just got a tip that drugs are available on that area!” Chotu blurted off while Ayesha threw an appreciative glance towards Chotu. “Exactly! And it’ll be a child’s play for Nadia to pressurize her friends to get a deal there.” Ayesha smiled and Chotu clapped in glee.

“Good work team, so Naida go and do your job now.” Arjun almost mocked the name as Ayesha passed a brilliant smile. Not to the team’s surprise did Rathore voice out “You can’t pressurize them much as you have been underground for a long time.”

“There are several ways how I can lure them to do a deal there.” Ayesha placed her hands on her hips and walked off while Rathore almost gaped for a second.

She’s going to seduce the leader.

Well boy is someone going to follow her then!

Kavin punched into his laptop in sheer frustration on not being able to contact Sakshi. Purvi cleared her throat and passed a mug of coffee.

“Thanks Purvi.” Kavin smiled as Purvi gave a stiff nod and walked off.

Cold behaviour. Kavin muttered a curse to himself and walked behind Purvi. “Ghar kaise jaa rahe ho?” “I’ll pick an auto or taxi on my way.” Purvi stole her eyes away from Kavin who held a mocking smile.

“At one in the night, let’s cut the drama - why are you pissed off?” Kavin asked as Purvi glared back at him “I am not pissed off, if you can let me…” Purvi’s words stopped as she found Kavin’s phone beeping with Sakshi’s name.

She gulped a lump and whispered “Anyways you might have important people to cater to.” Kavin cut the call and stared at Purvi “You’re jealous.”

“I am not!” Purvi flushed a bright red while Kavin banged his hand on the table “Do you know you are highly stupid?” Purvi looked back while Kavin hit his head “You think I am with Sakshi! Pete’s sake!”

“I…” “Shut up, listen I don’t have time and I need to tell you five things - Sakshi is my second cousin, I have attraction for you, I like the fact you are jealous but you are very insensitive, I have never received a signal of you liking me either and finally - I love you.” Kavin blurted out and Purvi gaped at him.

“Is this a proposal in the office?” Purvi squeaked a little while Kavin hit his head “You still have a question! I think we need time now…” Kavin smiled a little and shook his head as he picked up the call.

“It’s been weeks since Sakshi’s contacted, is she fine?” Purvi smoothened an invisible crease on his shirt as Kavin raised an eyebrow “Vamp kya nanad ban gayi, badi chinta aa rahi hai!”

Purvi frowned and muttered angrily while Kavin shook his head “On a serious note, give us some more time Purvi… I’ll sort out everything.” to which he won a stellar smile.

Purvi cleared her throat which clogged due to the sudden rush of emotions and went back to packing up for the day.

“Thanks for coming.” Arjun greeted as members of both the teams settled in his house. “All ok?” Pradyuman asked as he settled himself on the couch.

“No sir, I just realised a few points which must be discussed. And this needed immediate action.” Arjun said and smiled gratefully as Liza gestured to distribute glasses of water.

“What happened?” Rathore asked “See, I have summarized our plan since the past few months and it has revealed a few deadly ends.”

“Sakshi’s not been in touch since a while, that means she has dug deep which restricts her from making even the slightest of error. This doesn’t sound too good to me for she seems to have gone deep a bit earlier than required. Then Liza and Tarika had informed me that Jhumpi’s demise…” Arjun paused to shed off the pain which filled his heart and continued…

“Uh… yeah, Jhumpi had died before her arm had been amputated - this had just been to throw us off the tracks. This means that Jhumpi had witnessed something that was a secret.” Arjun stated.

“Hence the issue was never human trafficking in the first place!” Arjun ran a han through his hair.

“Sahi baat hai! Arjun! Ek aur cheez maine pata lagaya ki woh apni ghar se kareeban paanch mil door thi, aur uss elaka main ek STD booth tha - kahi woh kisi se baat toh nahi karna chahti hi?” Abhijeet added.

“Iska matlab hai, Jhumpi ne ek bohot hi bari saazish ke baare main jaan gayi thi... aur phir woh logo ne paise de ke bacchi ko khareed liya aur phir usse maar diya!” Pradyuman shook his head.

“Ayesha, kya tumhe kuch aur mila iss elaka ke baare main?” Arjun asked and suddenly Rathore and Ayesha blushed a bright red.

“Sir! What are you doing here!” Ayesha squealed on finding Rathore disguised behind her. “I couldn’t let you go alone here!”

“I am more than eighteen for your kind information!” Ayesha snapped while Rathore squinted his eyes. “Fine! GO and seduce that leader while I sit and watch your skills!”

“What’s wrong with you?” Ayesha puckered out her red lips and to Sameer’s surprise smacked them against his cheek “That should keep your jealousy in check!” Ayesha laughed and sauntered away to the den while Sameer kept on smiling like an idiot.

“Rathore?” “Huh, yeah - Ayesha.” Sameer scratched the back of his neck while Ayesha rolled her eyes and got back into work mode.

“Sir, we just came to know that - ah, here are the sketches. These were the men who were staying recently in the chawl.” Ayesha drawled on while her eyes fixed on Sameer, Arjun and Daya who stared at them.

“Yeh toh…” Daya started.

“Sikandar’s men!” Rathore stated and looked at his friend who had masked on an expressionless face.

“Sikandar’s dead Rathore… baat yeh hai ki ab uske jageh kaun hai?” Arjun banged his palm on the table.
